Charlie Fineman becomes depressed after losing his family members in the 9/11 attack. He no longer seems to be like his usual self and also starts to become emotionally unstable. He suffers from major depression and mostly keeps to himself. Charlie also starts to have trouble opening up to others. Not only is he suffering from depression, but also goes through many different disorders. Another disorder he seems to be going through is a bipolar disorder. One case of a bipolar disorder includes a borderline personality. You can see that Charlie suffers from this when his emotions and personality seems to change easily according to the situation that he is in. He also makes suicide attempts, though they are not directly to himself. Charlie also starts to have trouble trusting other people around him. You can see this when he starts to think that his friend is lying or keeping something from him. Therefore, he is also going through a paranoid personality disorder. The 9/11 had also greatly impacted Charlie's life. Because of the incident, he had lost his family members and was no longer the same person as he was before. And because he was so greatly affected by this tragic incident, he also has a posttraumatic stress disorder.

Charlie needs to be able to realize what is happening and get help. He needs to finally be able to open up to others and try to move on. If I were his friend, I would try to keep talking to him, so that he would be able to finally get his thoughts or feelings out. Although it might be difficult, by talking to Charlie, he could finally open up and move on. Once he does open up, he would realize what is going on and that he needs to move on or seek help from others.
